Dole Forum
The Dole Forum is a major part of the Institute’s educational programming efforts to reach the students at the University of Kansas and the surrounding community. It consists of ongoing programs covering a wide variety of topics designed to encourage political participation among young people through education and civil discussion.
Among the national personalities the Dole Forum has hosted are Republican strategist Matthew Dowd, ABC’s Kate Snow, former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, Democratic Strategist Donna Brazile, West Wing producer Alex Graves, Iraq commander and former Commander of Ft. Leavenworth Gen. David Petraeus, Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and 2008 presidential hopeful Senator Joseph Biden among others.

Willie Brown, one of America's most prominent black politicians, headlined an evening discussion on public service leadership and the future of our nation. Brown was in the California State Assembly for 30 years, serving as its Speaker for an unprecedented 15 years. He was Mayor of San Francisco from 1996 to 2004.

KU Athletics' Director Lew Perkins discussed the broader issues of academics, leadership, and globalization in collegiate athletics in the third program in the Dole Institute's "Leadership & Globalization in Sports" series. His decades-long career in sports administration has given Perkins a strong understanding of the importance of sports in the lives of young people.
